Marian specializes in new music and has worked with many outstanding composers and ensembles in the Bay Area. Her performance of the Berg Violin Concerto at San Francisco Conservatory was well received by the San Francisco Examiner. Marian was also recently featured on Alone/Not Alone series at the Center for New Music, which presented new works for soloist and electronics by living women composers. She has also presented new works for violin and electronics at the Hot Air Music Festival at San Francisco Conservatory. Beyond her solo work, Marian has appeared with San Francisco-based opera company Ensemble Parallele, new music ensemble After Everything, the California Pops Orchestra, and the Santa Cruz Symphony. In addition to her performance career, Marian runs a private violin studio with locations in Palo Alto, CA, and Mountain View, CA. She is a Suzuki-certified instructor and received her training from Cathryn Lee at the Northern California Suzuki Institute. Marian believes in nurturing the whole student as part of a well-rounded education. Her teaching emphasizes whole body awareness, solid technique, and careful listening skills. Marian’s students are actively involved in local youth orchestra and school orchestra programs. Marian has a Master of Music from San Francisco Conservatory, where she studied with Bettina Mussumeli. She has attended many notable music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Castleman Quartet Program, and the Credo chamber music program. Marian also received her Bachelor of Music from Ohio State University where she studied with Kia-Hui Tan and graduated summa cum laude with honors in the arts. Marian was the 2012 winner of the OSU School of Music Concerto Competition and performed the Barber Violin Concerto with the OSU Symphony.
