Gabriela Sepulveda

Gabriela Sepúlveda, a bilingual singer and writer, was born in San Jose, California on September 21st, 1999. She is the daughter of a Mexican mother and Chilean father. Her dad has been an Andean music player for more than 25 years. Gabriela’s mom, loves singing mexican rancheras songs and likes to write songs and poems. She does not only teach Gabriela’s songs, but also inspired her to sing. Gabriela’s love and passion for singing started at early age, just singing short melodies in key and the ABC’s over and over, as well as the Happy Birthday song. At the age of three, Gabriela was the show girl of family and friends reunions. She sang and danced for everybody and loved the applauses. Gabriela began her musical career at the age of 8 at her school’s talent show. She got a third place in her first singing contest, “Juguemos a Cantar” organized for ‘La Preciosa’ radio station when she was 8 year old at Bonfante Gardens. This contest opened the first doors for television interviews and radio programs in the Bay Area. Gabriela’s musical talent and versatility have led her to participate on both national and international television shows; these include her recent pass, LA VOZ KIDS USA, Sábado Gigante, Estrellas Del Futuro, Tengo Talento, and the most recent AMERICAN IDOL 15 Farewell Season 2016. She has also been a participant of various interviews on Television and radio shows such as Dante Night Show, Otra Noche con Ustedes, Al Despertar, Buenos Dias con Celina, El Show International de Paula Maruri, Stereo Play Beat, Acceso Total, El Show Pistorelo de Chicago, Encuentro en la Bahía, Comunidad del Valle, La Preciosa, and La Bamba Magazine to name a few. Gabriela has been interviewed by many prestigious international programs like Vuelo Musical, Espejo Empresarial, ZonaVIP, Sangre Mexicana, and Mundo de Fans, from the countries such as Venezuela, Mexico, and Ecuador. Gabriela has had about 30 articles written about her musical, career ranging from local magazines to international newspapers. She also has various Fan Clubs in countries such as Venezuela, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and France. Her YouTube Channel consists of more than over 600,000 views, 150 uploads, made up of live performances, interviews, and covers. Besides her usual performances in the Bay Area and across the country, Gabriela has paid homage to farmworker rights activist Dolores Huerta at the Mariachi Festival, olympic ice skater Kristin Yamaguchi, and the Bartolo family, owners of the San Francisco 49ers, for the “Legacy for Children Event”. For the past 6 years in a row, Gabriela has also been invited to perform at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the “Dia del Niño” event and “Dia de Reyes” at the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose. On June 27, 2017, her performance and debut as a soap opera actress in the Telemundo series, Jenni Rivera, “Mariposa de Barrio’, where she personifies Jenni’s youngest daughter, Jenicka López, gives her the opportunity to show her second passion for Acting alongside great actors like, Gabriel Porras, Rosalinda Rodriguez, Angelica Celaya, Pepe Gamez, Christopher Millan, Ricardo Kleinbaum, and Vanessa Pose among others. “Mariposa de Barrio” series opens a door full of opportunities to continue her musical career on par with her music. On September 18, 2016, ‘PERO NADIE’ her second song won The Josie Music Award 2016 for Best Song of the Year Worldwide, and THE JOSIE MUSIC FANS CHOICE AWARD 2016, an award given by her fans. This ceremony took place at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee Gabriela got first place in the local singing competition, the “Do the Hustle Show” by CREA TV, and at her Middle School, where she received the “Chaboya Idol” award in 2012. She is also a participant at the annual “Noche Bohemia” in Salinas, California, events from FEDEJAL, Mexico Extravaganza, “Pinturas en Movimiento de Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo”, “Fiesta Gigantes de San Francisco”, and “Navidad en Mexico Bay Area Tour” with Ballet Folklorico de Carlos Moreno. Gabriela has also appeared at “Fiestas de Jalisco” in Chicago, Evaston, and Melrose, Illinois, and “Festival del Mariachi” in Rosario, Mexico. In August 2014, Gabriela sang with the ”Mariachi Sol de México” and was selected by the Mexican Heritage Corporation as a member of “VivaFest Music Ensemble”. This Ensemble participated in the “National Policy Forum on Arts Education” Summit which was organized by the White House and VivaFest!. The event was held at Pixar Studios in Emeryville, California. On September 13th, 2014, Gabriela was invited to sing the U.S. National Anthem for the San Francisco Giants and the San Jose ice hockey team, “The Sharks” in December 11th of that same year, and in 2015 for the San Jose Earthquakes, and Barracudas. Her first performances in Mexico for a TV program was July 2015 on “Otra Noche Con Ustedes” in Guadalajara, Jalisco and Channel 14 for the State of Michoacán. Gabriela recorded her fist album at the age of 10, titled “Mis Primeras Canciones”, which contains covers from various genres, including ranchero, norteño, and cumbia. She recorded her first original song “Ya No Te Quiero” in 2012. “Yo No Te Quiero” was the first song that got Gabriela recognized as a writer. In December 2010, Gabriela became a part of “Pasitos de Navidad”, a non-profit organization that aids children with Autism. She sent in a video of her singing an andean interpretation of the song “Los Reyes Magos”. In 2012, Gabriela Sepulveda was given authorization by Walt Disney Music for her Spanish adaptation of the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The song is titled “La Escala” and it becomes the first and only official Spanish version of the song. Currently, the music video has over 130,000 views on Youtube. In April 2014, Gabriela released her second original song, “Pero Nadie”, a mix between a ballad and ranchera. “Pero Nadie” has been a popular choice for listeners on the Radio station “Esplendida 91.9” in Venezuela. This song, along with “Pero Nadie”, were added to Gaby’s second album named “Cantos del Corazon”. “Pero Nadie” was nominated in 2016 in the world Category for the Josie Music Awards in Nashville, TN. Gabriela has collaborated with singer/writer Victor Hugo Santos on his album titled “25 Años de Canciones para Niños”. She has also sung several duos: with the Mexican tenor, Miguel Sotomayor the songs “Vivo por Ella”, “Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti”, and “Written in the Stars”, with the POP Star Abraham Mateo the song “Un 5 de Agosto”, song dedicated to the rescued Chilean Miners and with the singer Fran Strippoli of Venezuela the cover song, Llegaste Tú. On June 2012, Gabriela was recognized as the “New, Young Talent” of FestiVegas in a contest held in Las Vegas. In August 2013, Gabriela also received recognition by “Modern Latina Magazine” for her work, contribution, and inspiration to the Hispanic community in the Bay Area. She has also been awarded the Student of the Year Award during her 2014-2015 school year. Gabriela Sepúlveda admires many artists, including Celine Dion, Lara Fabian, IlVolo, Selena Quintanilla, Abraham Mateo, Aida Cuevas, among others. She spends her free time writing songs and short stories, drawing, and playing the guitar. She also loves swimming , dancing, singing, and theatre. Gabriela is the ambassador for the organization, “Juntos por la Vida”, a global organization that informs and helps young adults avoid abuse and suicide. She also belongs to the Red Cross Club at her School and is a tutor for her fellow classmates in the subjects of Science, Math, and Art. Gabriela’s hope is to be a positive example for other children and teenagers and encourages parents to spare no efforts to help their children achieve their goals of what they want to be in life. Gabriela continues preparing herself to achieve her goals, both musically and academically.
