He also earned Teaching Credentials in Fine Arts, English, and Multiple Subjects from Sonoma State University in 1987, and later a Master of Arts Degree in Art Education from Stanford University in 1996. Over the years Tom has studied with a number of iconic California artists at UC Berkeley, the San Francisco Art Institute, Sonoma State University, and Stanford University. Tom has always been deeply drawn to Abstract Impressionism, especially the work of Hans Hoffmann. His strongest artistic influences include Hans Hoffmann and Richard Diebenkorn.
