Diva Marisa is a maverick singer and performer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has most recently been seen in as Miss Jessel in D.C. Public Opera‘s Turn of the Screw, Queen of the Night in New York Lyric Opera‘s Magic Flute, and Violetta in Verismo Opera‘s La Traviata.
A conservatory-trained opera singer, Marisa has sung with the San Francisco Opera, the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Chris Brubeck, and multiple times in recital with Frederica von Stade. She has sung for Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and performed as herself in Francis Ford Coppola’s film project, “Twixt”.
Marisa has sung for 60,000 Raiders fans at the Oakland Coliseum. At San Jose City Hall, she rode her motorcycle down the steps before singing the aria from the fifth element. At the Burning Man festival in Nevada, she has been the singer before the burning of David Best’s temples burns since 2002, and rides a zipline into the Thunderdome before performing her composition of operatic vocal pyrotechnics. In 2011, she debuted her “opera and trapeze” act at The Crucible in Oakland, and has since performed it with Velocity Circus and Hubba Hubba Revue.
