Grijda Spiri


Grijda Spiri, a violinist and a pianist, has gained recognition as an original artist. Her broad experience in two different instruments makes her a special artist and gives her distinctive skills in music performance. She is also a sponsored artist of the prestigious Onassis Foundation Scholarships in Greece. Ms. Spiri holds Master’s Degree from University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she studied under Fabian Lopez and Bachelor’s Degree from University of Corfu with professor Spyro Gikonti. Other teachers include her first professor and father, Gjergji Spiri.As a child prodigy, she started performing at a very young age in several concerts all over Greece. A winner of Greek national competitions, she has performed in renowned venues including Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Dodoni Theater, Ioannina Concert Hall, St Markos in Venice, Raleigh Memorial Concert Hall, Baldwin Auditorium. Some of the countries she has performed are: Greece, Turkey, Albania, Germany, Italy, United States, Canada. In 2011 she represented Greece in Gjirokaster Fortress for the UNESCO program as a soloist. She has shared the stage with the internationally acclaimed artists like Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Tedi Papavrami, Lynn Harrell, Pinchas Zukerman, and The Juilliard Quartet.For five years, she was the concertmaster at the Ionian University of Corfu orchestra and, also, played in the first violin section with the multiple orchestras.In 2014 she was the first violinist of the Graduate Quartet at UNCG, concertmaster of the University Orchestra and for two years she played associate concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Triangle. She also performed with Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Ballet, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, and Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Beyond her violin skills, she is also an active collaborative pianist having a great experience with instrumentalist and singers. Grijda has attended masterclasses and worked with lots of great violinist and pianist, some of them are Leonidas Kavakos, Tedi Papavrami, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Pinchas Zukerman, The Juilliard Quartet, Kronos Quartet, Stanley Ritchie, Valentina Lisitsa, Peter Seymore, Eric Pritchard, Larry Todd, Stephen Miahki, Ennio Morricone.
