Soprano, Cara Gabrielson, graduated with her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is an alumna of Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artists Vocal Academy. In 2017-18, Ms. Gabrielson was the Oregon District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and made her San Francisco Symphony debut as the Soprano Soloist in Bach’s Magnificat and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. As a Studio Artist with Opera Saratoga, she sang Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas) and covered Clorinda (La Cenerentola). This season she will play the role of Elisena in Giovanni Porta’s Ifigenia in Aulide with Ars Minerva and is the Soprano Soloist in Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with Clark College Orchestra. Bay area performances have included Norina (Don Pasquale) with Pocket Opera, Jocasta (Le Amazzoni) with Ars Minerva, the Foreign Woman (The Consul) with Berkeley Chamber Opera, and the Soprano Soloist in Carmina Burana with Resonance Concert Series. As a recitalist she has been presented by the Portland Opera Guild and the pop-up opera performance troupe, Opera on the Spot. Favorite roles performed at SFCM include Musetta (La bohème), Atalanta (Serse), Nerone (Agrippina), The Rose (The Little Prince) and Drusilla (L’incoronazione di Poppea). Cara is a native of Portland, OR and currently resides in San Francisco. Her hobbies include furniture store thrifting, interior design, hiking, and discovering cozy coffee shops.
