Scottie Brown

Scottie Brown received her BFA in Fine Art and Art Education from the University of Southern California in 1971. She was a high school art teacher at Leysin American School in Switzerland before returning to the United States where she began a career in interior design. In 1980 she moved to La Jolla where she became involved with her children’s schools and other philanthropic endeavors including chairing and designing several of the county’s major fundraising events.
Her painting began with watercolors in 1993. Since 2006 she most frequently uses oils. While primarily a plein air painter, she also does still life pieces. Some of her noteworthy teachers include Ray Roberts, John Budicin, Debra Huse, and Pat Kelly. Her award winning work has appeared in several juried shows. She is member of California Art Club (where she is Co-Chair of the San Diego Chapter), Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LAPAPA), American Impressionist Society and Plein Air Painters Association of San Diego (PAPASAN). Her work is in private as well as corporate collections.
