Mike Meadows

Mike Meadows is a producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, based between Austin,TX and Nashville,TN. He is a Grammy nominated drummer and percussionist as well as a Grammy winning vocalist. Originally from Atlanta,GA, Mike has been playing music since age three. From Classical & Jazz to Rock & World Music he’s seen it all (and played some of it too). His greatest passion is performing, creating, and recording a variety of musical styles all around the world. He is also co-inventor of The Black Swan Drum and co-founder of Swan Percussion. Mike’s other passions include hypnosis, mind reading and other esoteric ‘mystery’ arts.
Mike has traveled to Ghana, West Africa twice now, to study the music of the Ewe, Dagara, and Ga people with the Agbeli family and Bernard Woma. He plans on continuing his studies there and looks forward to future visits! He also traveled to Zimbabwe in 2012 & 2014 and was fortunate enough to study Mbira with one of the masters, Newton Gwara (aka ‘Matemai’). He looks forward to more studies with him as well! As a member of the Atlanta Boy Choir starting at age 5 (his first audition) he began touring in Europe every summer with them at the age of 9. As well as singing in the choir, he was also the ‘little drummer boy’ for many years.
He received an amazing education on music, performance, and life from the director Fletcher Wolfe, and through his experiences as a member of the ABC. The first recording he was a part of (Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem) was with the ABC and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and it won 2 Grammys! In 2009 & 2017 he had the good fortune of receiving the Austin Music Award for Best Drummer/Percussionist. Quite an honor in a city that’s known for it’s great musicians and rich musical history!
