Arthur SimoneArthur Simone is an actor, artist and co-founder of Austin’s ColdTowne Theater. He graduated in Theatre from Oberlin College and studied improvisation at Chicago’s Improv Olympic. As a film and television actor, he’s appeared in everything from Big Momma’s House 2 to Parkland. Arthur has been a sometime fixture on the annual East Austin Studio Tour and has been a finalist for the Hunting Art Prize. Arthur is represented for industrial, commercial and film work by Collier Talent Agency in Austin, Texas.
Arthur Simone is an abstract expressionist artist. You can sometimes see his oil paintings in a coffee shop or on the East Austin Studio Tour. After studying comedy improvisation at Chicago’s IO (formerly Improv Olympic), Arthur returned to his home state of Louisiana, where he met Yvonne Landry at LaNuit Theater and members of what would eventually become the long form improvisational troupe ColdTowne. Up until Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Arthur was a charter member of ComedySportz New Orleans.
Upon moving to Austin, ColdTowne performed at the Hideout Theater, the original Alamo Drafthouse and festivals such as Out of Bounds, the Phoenix Improv Festival, the Del Close Marathon and the Chicago Improv Festival. In 2006 they opened their own venue with Chicago-style training, the ColdTowne Theater and Conservatory. The trioEureka House of Metal anchored weekends for the next few years, winning Best Comedy/Improv Troupe awards from the Austin Chronicle in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Since then, Arthur has performed, taught and directed improv full time, including “3,2,1 Kill!” video improv, “Buddy Daddy” (with his dog Robin Goodfellow), the Harold troupe “Boy Toy,” “Braised in Texas” and “Array.” In 2007, improv skills helped send Arthur to the Air Guitar Finals in NYC and won him top prize in the first Air Sex World Championship and the O’Henry Pun-Off World Championship.
