Katrina Marie Stahr was born and raised in Sacramento Ca. Katrina started her singing journey at the age of four she was raised in a home full of musical treasures. Her mother was a lover of all music, which meant she heard the whole spectrum, from Sir Mix-A-Lot to Cab Calloway Fleetwood Mac to Bone Thugs & Harmony Janis Joplin to Anita Baker.
When she turned eleven she discovered that, in addition to singing, she could write her own songs. She wrote her first song in her grandmother’s kitchen, while watching the Grand Ole Opry with her grandfather. From that moment on she never stopped composing. Singing and songwriting had always been a big dream of hers, her one consistent passion.
Over time, as her singing and writing skills grew, she became a full time NSAI and ASCAP member, and joined several bands. In 2013 she finally decided it was time to start her own band where she could showcase her original music as well as covers so she started Katrina Stahr & The Virginia Lights Band. They played over 100 shows all over Northern California in the first year.
As of today her love and passion for singing and writing has led her to start working on her first album. She has been working on songs with bass player Joseph Gonzales (from Aloe Blacc’s (the singer/songwriter of The Man and Wake Me Up). And in March 2015 she finished recording her 1st EP “Greystone Road” in Nashville with Larry Beaird at Beaird Music Group Studio with some of the best musicians on the planet Troy Lancaster, Stevo Nathan, Eddie Bayers, Scotty Sanders & Eli Beaird.
Katrina’s hopes, dreams and goals are to help foster positive change in the world through her music. She wants her music to be an affirmation in people’s lives, and to break up the monotony of their daily grind, by writing songs that truly speak to them. She wants to continue to inspire people to appreciate life and to make their own creative positive changes in the world. Making people happy through her music has been and is one of her greatest joys of all.
