Jane Thompson Trio


The Jane Thompson Trio is an instrumental Jazz combo featuring acoustic bass and twin electric guitars. The trio is based out of Sacramento and performs all over Northern California and Nevada. Their focus is Jazz, however they draw inspiration from a variety of musical genres including Latin, Blues, Swing and Pop. Whether playing the compositions of Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Wes Montgomery, Henry Mancini, Pat Metheny or the Beatles, the group always adds their unique stamp and creativity. The Trio is professional in both attitude, appearance and would add to the success of your next event. Ken Billeci
Ken Billeci has been an active music educator and performer in Sacramento and Northern California for the past 30 years. Ken holds an A.A. degree in Music from American River College, and he also studied classical guitar at California State University under Professor Richard Savino. Ken played guitar in the stage bands at both colleges, where he developed his skills in jazz chart reading and jazz improvisation. Ken spent 20 years teaching guitar at Jack’s House of Music, all the while performing in various bands locally. For the ten piece horn band “On Air”, he was lead guitarist and also arranged numerous horn charts. In 2006, Ken released a CD of original instrumental jazz compositions with his band, “Funky Brain” (don’t laugh!). While all members of the group on this CD (available on I-Tunes) are stellar musicians, Ken was especially pleased to have the nationally recognized drummer and clinician Mike Johnston behind the kit, who just recently graced the cover of “Modern Drummer” magazine. Ken is an endorsed artist for ZT amplifiers out of Berkeley, Ca. Ken was also the rhythm guitarist for the Django Reinhardt inspired gypsy jazz group, “Jazz Gitan” for 6 years and played hundreds of gigs throughout Northern California. Ken enjoys bringing the wonderful world of music to his students, and he teaches guitar, piano, bass and ukulele.
Jon Spivack
Jon Spivack is a parent, an educator and a musician who has been teaching and performing in the Sacramento area for over 25 years. He has earned a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a Master of Arts in Special Education at California State University, Sacramento. Jon enjoys teaching and sharing his love and enthusiasm of music. He has taught in a wide variety of settings, both in the classroom and as a private instructor in the studio (currently at Watermelon Music in Davis, Tim’s Music in Sacramento and in The San Juan Unified School District). Jon also co-founded Learning Quest, a company that creates and markets educational materials for students. Of the four teaching credentials he has earned, Jon credits his Multiple Subject and Adult Ed credentials for his success as a teacher. His new Jazz/Folk/Blues CD, Branching Out, is now available on CD Baby.abl.
Jane Thompson
Jane Thompson has been playing bass in working bands most of her life. “Ascension”, the first band Jane was in, opened for many notable performers including Etta James, Mike Bloomfield, Hot Tuna, Meryl Saunders and Peter Yarrow. Ascension had a varied set list of rock, blues, ballads, folk, funk & country. Jane was in the country swing band “Trails End Show Band”, Motown and 50s/60s band “Fast Stops & Car Hops” for 5 years. Jane was also in “CS & Company” for 13 years performing old & new country, ballads and rock & roll. Most recently Jane was in “Jazz Gitan” for 5 years playing gypsy jazz, inspired by Django Rheinhardt. Jane currently plays in the 18 piece community big band “It’s About Time” and has done so for the past 9 years. Jane has also played several gigs with Dennis Johnson & Tim Metz in the group “Dennis Johnson & the Mississippi Ramblers” performing Mississippi Delta blues. Jane plays string and electric bass and has a passion for music in a wide range of styles, but has had a life long dream of playing in a jazz trio. Jane is also an artist who enjoys painting a variety of styles and subjects including musicians and music related art.
