Frankie and the Defenders is a Northern California rockabilly band featuring singer\songwriter and entertainer Frankie Defury. Winners of the 2017 and 2018 Sacramento Area Music Awards (Sammies) for rockabilly, Frankie and his band tear through original and rockabilly classics, creating a swing dancing frenzy and unforgettable show. Their second album “rockabilly radio” is now available on Amazon Music and Spotify, as well as locally at Sacramento Dimple records. Frankie will also perform on the piano in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis and on the slide guitar in the style of George Thorogood. Although essentially a 3-piece band – they often bring along top musicians on saxophone or keyboards. Check out one of their upcoming Northern California shows and be a part of the fun!
Frankie DeFury
Frankie’s newest band (Frankie and the Defenders) are the 2018 and 2019Sammie (Sacramento Music) Award winners. Frankie grew up in New Jersey where he studied music with an instructor from Julliard Music Academy. He moved to the Chicago area after high school and although underage, played full-time in a working band. He moved to the Bay Area when he was 20, studied guitar, wrote songs and after a few years formed his own band, Frankie Flame and Ruthless Fun. He won the KSSO Best of the Bay contest and for the next seven years performed hundreds of shows per year. He was on rotation on KSSO and KOME radio, opened for Rick Derringer, won several Battle of the Bands, and was a finalist in another Best of the Bay contest. Frankie eventually moved to Sacramento and formed Frankie and the Defenders. This band is all about rockabilly, rock and roll and boogie rock music, designed to put the audience is a euphoric state of happiness and dancing energy.
Gut Bustin’ Bass
Nate Dickson is the most recent addition to Frankie and the Defenders. Nate is an original member of the popular Sacramento band “The Cash Prophets.”
Incredibly talented on the upright bass, Nate’s calloused fingers create a whirlwind of rhythm and gets the dancefloor jumpin with his energy and skill.
Erik Erock
Erik is the newest member of Frankie and the Defenders.
E-Rock has been playing drums since he was 10 years old pounding on pots and pans, buckets, and what ever he could get his drum sticks on. E-Rock has performed in several groups in the Sacramento Region including Groove Thang. Erik has awesome chops and incredible timing.
