Jon Ardito

Jon ArditoI began drumming at age 10. My younger days consisted of school music programs, my own bands, private lessons, and a constant desire to get better. In 2003, I auditioned for The University of the Arts music school in Philadelphia, PA where I spent time developing my skills as a drummer and testing the boundaries of musical concepts. U Arts was rated the #1 program in the country for drummers in a 2003 modern drummer magazine poll under the teachings of Rob Brosch, Joe Nero, Jim Paxton, and Marc DiCianni. The lessons I took from that place are ones that have done wonders for my development as a drummer and as a person.
My professional career began at age 18, recording, performing, writing, and co-producing songs with various artists in the Philadelphia and New York areas. 2008 was a turning point in my life, when I formed the hip-hop/jazz/rock band, soulfatronic. The band caused a great buzz along the east coast, packing venues and receiving radio play on major stations. Shortly afterwards, I joined GrindCity, a band who had the pleasure of performing with musicJon Ardito icons Living Colour, N.E.R.D, Jazmine Sullivan, and Kindred and The Family Soul. GrindCity received significant attention from the press, performed at Political rallies, and published songs for several professional sports teams.
In 2010, I set off to do more freelance work in the studio and on stage. 2010 also saw the birth of a soulfatronic offshoot projet called BAM! This is my current pride and joy. BAM! has been hard at work in the studio, recording original compositions for an album set to release in Fall of 2011. Our ability as an instrumental act has allowed us to function as the backing band for established artists, most recently MTV’s Next Top Pop Group finalists, Ju-Taun. BAM! has showcased with Ju-Taun in front of music legends Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff of Philadelphia International Records, appeared on network television with them, and backed them through a regional NBC sponsored competition, which they won without a stutter.
Jon ArditoThe relationship that has developed with Ju-Taun looks to be promising moving forward. BAM! also came in 2nd out of 1200 performers in the Philly Rising competition at Philadelphia’s World Café Live in January 2011. These days, I perform regularly at clubs in Philadelphia and New York City as well as special events all over the region. My primary focus has been building my private teaching business. I couldn’t ask for a better group of students. Teaching has allowed me to get back in touch with the basics, revisit challenging areas, and expand on ideas that were presented to me in the past. I am privileged to have it as a part of my life, grateful for the lessons Ive learned, k forward to the opportunities to come.
