ATHAN HILAKI

Athan Hilaki is a Singer/Musician (Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Piano, Harmonica, Ukulele, Percussion) and songwriter. He is the founding member of the Alternative Rock / Indie Rock band, Trapped In Static (New York, 2011 | Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards).
Previous projects include: Chasing Carmen (Rock | New York, 2015-2016 | Lead Vocals, Keyboards), GAD. (Greece, 2005-2012 | Guitar, Backing Vocals), Eagle I (Indie Pop | New York, 2014 | Bass, Backing Vocals), Synolon (Greek Cover Band | New York, 2012), Athor (2000-2007), Accidentally Met (2005), Burning Cigarettes (2002-2004) and Flaming Roses (1999-2003).
So far, he has released 3 albums and 2 singles under ArchAngel Records and Red Thumbtack Records, EP “On A Stage” (with TIS, 2013), single “Bullet” (with TIS, 2014) and “All The Right Moves” (with TIS, 2014), “System May Fall” (with GAD. 2007) and “The Perfect Crime” (with GAD. 2010).
In 2014 Athan wrote the music for the short TV movie “Preying For Mercy”, written & directed by Bill Duke, featuring the two time EMMY award winner Martha Byrne. In 2012 he was also selected for the Greek X-Factor, but he wasn’t able to attend the next round in Greece, due to schedule conflicts in the United States.
Athan has contributed in many albums and collections as guitarist, bassist, producer and sound engineer – to name a few: Sabotaz – Heroes (New York/Greece: Hip Hop), Jason Gill – Little Black Dress (New York: Singer/Songwriter), Jarrah DeQuien – Balloon (New York: Singer/Songwriter). He has toured and performed live as a session guitarist and bassist for numerous singer/songwriters such as Jason Gill, Katelyn Richards, Eagle I, Dvinchi Kode, Arianna & The Rose and more.
Athan has shared the stage with musicians and bands such as: The Killers, Duffy, Dinosaur Jr, The Prodigy, Iggy And The Stooges, Everlast, Chicane, Nouvelle Vague, Magic Man, Black Taxi, Wussy, The Cringe, Raining Pleasure, 1550, Andriana Babali (Greek Singer), Iraklis Kontos (Greek Singer from Argonaftes), Kostas & Paris Gagastathis (Greek Musicians from Katsimiha Band), Mimis Plessas (Greek Composer), Synolon (Greek Cover Band in NYC) and Konstantinos Vita (Greek Singer).

February 2016, June 2016 headlining sold out shows at The Bitter End followed by The Studio at Webster Hall – July 2016, two times top artist of the week at DASWorldMusicStage.com – Very successful performances at Montauk Music Fesival 2016 and MOVE Music Festival 2016. In 2015, headlining show in PA at the legendary World Cafe Live. In October 2014 the TV Movie “Preying For Mercy” was released featuring music written & performed by TIS.
In June 2014, TIS. performed at the “Make Music Harvard Square” in Boston, MA. In April 2014, the band opened for “Wussy”, performing at one of the best live venue’s in NYC, The Studio At Webster Hall, followed by another show at MOVE Music Festival 2014 in Albany, NY. In May 2014, TIS. played a sold out show as headliners at “Bowery Electric” in NYC. In October 2013, TIS. was selected in the Top 3 artists for the 5th annual RAW Awards 2013. In May 2013, the band was the Top Artist of the Month at the online contest on ArtistSignal.com with over 48,000 votes, a worldwide contest that includes more than 1,000 artists, which led to the release of their first EP with title “On A Stage” (available on iTunes, Amazon etc.) and two live performances for the TV show NiteClub Ratings in NYC as well as K. Bobby’s private fashion show in Hoboken, NJ.
Other highlights in 2012 include live performances on WVIP 93.5 FM radio, Hellas FM, Nexus Radio as well as a live performance for the TV show “Minding Your Business” on the Manhattan Network Neighborhood and in 2011, TOP10 finalist for the Hometown Hero contest by Z100.
