Nancy Carey

Soprano Nancy Carey has performed on concert and opera stages throughout the United States and Europe. Regionally, she has performed with Opera Memphis, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Opera, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and Prisma Ensemble. Opera roles include, among others, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Flora in La Traviata.
An ambassador for new music, she originated the role of Tish in the critically acclaimed premier of Destiny: Hope, a chamber opera by composer Costas Dafnis. During the 2017-2018 season, Nancy was the soprano soloist in the Pergolesi Stabat Mater at Univeristy of Memphis, the soprano soloist in Prisma Ensemble’s production of Handel’s Messiah, and performed the title role in Opera Memphis’ Midtown Opera Festival production of The Lovely Galatea.
Nancy holds a Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University and is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of Memphis. She is on faculty at Centenary College of Louisiana and University of Louisiana at Monroe.
