Tanya Davis

Growing up in Madison, Mississippi, Tanya was the youngest of six kids. “Mama raised me to be a little lady, but she’d always find me in the yard digging in the dirt or climbing trees. I’ve been yanking in catfish and popping rabbits off of logs since I was 6 years old. I’d ride that river in the coldest of conditions, just to get to duck hunt with my Daddy,” she says.
Her love of hunting and fishing has allowed Tanya to be featured on both The Outdoor and Sportsman’s channels. “When people first meet me I don’t think they ever realize how serious I am about the outdoors”, says Tanya, “But when they see that I’ll sit in a deer stand for hours on end and clean my own game they begin to get the picture. Her family also inspired Tanya’s love of music. “My parents had a record collection from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and an actual jukebox. It was very normal to find us all dancing in the den on Saturday night”, says Tanya. She adds, “I love all kinds of music, but Elvis was the one that really captured me. He’s the one that fueled my desire to sing and perform and nothing will ever top the King for me”.
Releasing her debut album, “40 Miles East of Memphis” with Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley (Whiteheart, Johnny Cash, Be Be and Ce Ce Winans, and Steven Curtis Chapman), they have created an incredible journey of life, love, and loss through the songs that she has written. Infusing her southern charm into the music in a way that only Tanya’s voice and style can do.
The first step was taking songs from two of her favorite artists, Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen, and infusing her southern charm into their music in a way that only Tanya’s voice and style can do.
Bringing Vince Gill in on guitar and the harmony vocal for her unique take on the Elvis single, ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ was a watershed moment not only for Davis but for the heartbeat of the project. With some of Nashville’s top players and engineers contributing their skills to her art, she is ready to let the world in on her love of Mississippi, music, the outdoors, and the way she commands an audience when she sings.
