Jessica Manning

Born to a singer-father said to be responsible for bringing soul to Scandinavia, Jessica Manning knows her way around a stage. One could say she inherited her confident, come-hither voice from her father but what she has created with it is entirely her own. After moving from Sweden and settling in Minneapolis, MN, Jessica Manning’s career as a musician has steadily climbed. Her first EP, a collection of acoustic songs, was released in 2013. The EP was recorded in L.A. by Colbie Caillat’s guitarist Justin Young after hearing Jessica’s Youtube cover of one of his own songs. Jessica Manning released her first full-length album, What If I Run, in 2017, pivoting from acoustic singer-songwriter to electronic- R&B siren. Successfully funded through Kickstarter and produced by Brett Bullion, What If I Run is populated with stories of familial and financial burdens, failed relationships, overcoming fear, and a desire to leave a country in an identity crisis. Jessica’s rich and soulful voice is supported by a sonic landscape of synthesizers, samples, beats, and lush production.
Huffington Post says, “Jessica Manning has solidified a signature sound which she can confidently call home. In this space, she is able to paint the walls with songs that are raw, honest, and cathartic” and Okayplayer calls her single,”Homestead”, “healing and uplifting.”
Jessica has lived a long life in her 25 years and although her story is complex one won’t has trouble finding a space of their own within her music. Jessica Manning is an alternative-R&B artist born in Stockholm, Sweden and based in Minneapolis, MN.
She draws influence from pop, soul, and electronic music by artists such as Frank Ocean, Solange, and Kevin Garrett. Her sound incorporates electronic drums and synthesizers to create an atmosphere that her soulful melodies, rich vocals, and thoughtful lyrics soar high above. Jessica Manning’s music and music videos have been featured in publications such as Huffington Post, Okayplayer, Indieshuffle, Allmusic, Singersroom, Myspace and Paste Magazine.
