MEGAN THORNTON

Megan Thornton is a double agent: photographer and {former} special education teacher — her passion is in both, but is currently taking a break from teaching to focus on her business and family! She is a Manhattan, Kansas wedding photographer and family photographer, and she also loves shooting destination weddings! Her family includes her husband, Tyler and their human-child, Jaxson. They had to say goodbye to their beloved fur-child, Butch in Summer 2017. They made their family official on May 3rd, 2014! Apparently, she likes to randomly spat phrases in Spanish while talking about herself. But she does wish she were trilingual. As a family, they value experiences. So in their {sparse} free time, you’ll find them traveling, exploring, being outdoors and learning! Sometimes she catches herself taking life too seriously, but that’s the perfectionist in her. Her favorite thing about photography is being a ninja. Yep, you read that correctly. True emotion floors her. She loves capturing moments while going completely unnoticed… ninja style! For six weeks, Megan tried to find a name for her photography business & could not come up with anything better than “Megan Stremel (now Thornton) Photography.” After a while, she thought she should just go with it since she had tried for so long, but the reality is, she hopes to have other photographers in business with her, so she didn’t want her name to be the business name. Then, she was correcting her horrible spelling on dictionary, the “Word of the Day” was “demiurge”. Her curiosity demanded she clickes on it. She learned demiurge means “A supernatural being imagined as creating or fashioning the world.” She immediately thought, “That is exactly what I do as a photographer! I create or fashion the world in the picture I’m taking.” And there began Demiurge Photography!
