Christopher Alexander Mitchell

Christopher Alexander Mitchell (born December 25, 1986), better known by his stage name Chris Mitchell, is an American saxophonist whose 3rd album, The Chris Mitchell Experience, brought him “breakthrough recognition” in 2013. Chris’s main instrument is the soprano saxophone, but he also plays the alto and tenor saxophone and the guitar on occasion. Chris Mitchell was born in Houston, TX. His mother is from Millry, Alabama. His family is musically inclined and he came into contact with the saxophone when he heard it being played in his junior high school band hall. He started playing saxophone, a Keilwerth, in 1998 when he was 10 years old.
Chris Mitchell attended Blue Ridge Elementary School, Lake Olympia Junior High School, Thurgood Marshall High School, and Sam Houston State University, all in his home state of Texas. When he entered high school his talent was quickly spotted at the talent show. He was also on his high school basketball team. He has been a fan of the sport since his elder brother, Lonnie Mitchell, introduced him to it when he was 6.
