Christina YueA native of Eugene, Oregon, Christina Yue is an avid chamber musician and rehearsal pianist. She received her Master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music where she was a graduate assistant in piano accompanying. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon as a Ruth Close Musical Fellow and was honored with the Outstanding Undergraduate Collaborative Piano Award in 2005 and 2006. Her teachers include Jean Barr, Dean Kramer, David Riley, and Victor Steinhardt.
Her lecture recital at Eastman featuring three of Anton von Webern’s works, op.3, 7, and 22, led her to find an unexpected passion in contemporary works. Since then, she has performed many post-1940s music including Vox Balaenae by George Crumb, The Cliff’s Edge (Songs of a Psychotic) by Margaret Garwood, A Child’s Garden of Dreams by David Maslanka, Viola Sonata by George Rochberg, and Tierkeris by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Her newest expedition has been Pierre Boulez’s Sonatine for flute and piano.Christina Yue
Christina has also spent the summer of 2011 performing Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte with the Cascadia Concert Opera in Portland, Salem, and Eugene. In the past two years, she has rehearsed and performed with choirs, including the University of Oregon Singers and Chamber Choir, Eugene Concert Choir, Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble, and the Eugene Symphony Chorus. Her most recent engagements include playing in the Eugene Symphony for Orff’s Carmina Burana, Britten’s War Requiem and performing the first of four piano parts in Stravinsky’s Les Noces (The Wedding) for the Eugene Ballet Company.
As Christina currently resides in Eugene, she has become well known as a chamber musician and performs often as a recitalist with many of the University of Oregon School of Music students. She was also the staff accompanist of the Suzuki Strings Program at the university as well.
