I was born in El Paso, Texas and am a 5th generation Texan. I live just 20 miles North, between El Paso and Las Cruces, NM. The Organ mountains in Las Cruces and the Franklins in El Paso are an anchor to my soul. When I am away for a spell, I realize how much I miss them and am known to have a tear in my eye when flying home. The southwest is my home and there’s nothing compared to the desert scenery. My painting career began when I lived in Santa Fe in early 2000., I was overwhelmed by all of the amazing artwork and beautiful country that surrounded Santa Fe. At some point I was inspired to pick up a paint brush and give it a try. Not knowing the first thing about the mechanics and technical aspect of painting, I took lessons. After a year of study I felt that my work was on a par with other artists in the area. To test the water in 2011, I entered the Arts International Show competition in El Paso and all three of my entries were accepted and two won awards. In 2017, I entered the show and three of my paintings were accepted, and one of them won an award. So, now it’s time to branch out and show my work online so that others can view it and, hopefully, appreciate my efforts. Living in the countryside between El Paso and Las Cruces, with beautiful views of the Organ and Franklin mountains, cotton and alfalfa fields and pecan orchards, all serve as constant inspirations for my paintings. The changing of light and seasons inspire me and motivate me to pick up a paint brush and get started. I am a member of the Artist Guild of Southern New Mexico, the Las Cruces Art Association and the El Paso Art Association.
