Kara Joy Reed

Kara Joy Reed was born on February 3, in Avon Township, MI. Kara’s father, Karl, was a practicing attorney, who now holds a high ranking position in the county government. Kara’s mother, Natalie, is recently deceased. She worked as a family counselor and life coach.
Kara has one older brother, Adam, who is an attorney. Kara was raised in Auburn Hills, MI and attended Oakland Christian School from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA and went to Oakland University on academic scholarships to pursue a BA degree in Theatre Performance with a minor in Spanish Language. Kara has always loved theatre, but has recently turned also to film, not onlyKara Joy Reed because it interests her, but also, she jokes, “Because there are times when you just need a bigger paycheck.” The recent boom in Hollywood films made in Michigan has helped her get her start. She can be seen on screen various times throughout “Ides of March” as well as “Real Steel.” She auditions and performs in both theatre and film, and is pleased to be able to do so. Recently, Kara was inducted into the Board of Directors for the Epicenter Theatre Group, after performing with them as a guest actor in Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” Kara says her mother always knew that she would be a performer because the most often uttered phrase of her childhood was, “Watch me, Mommy! Watch me!”
