Born in Boston, but attended school in Wakefield, a suburb of Boston, via the METCO Program, and played for Wakefield Memorial High School before transferring to Vermont Academy. There, he was able to get offers from many high majors and mid majors yet committed to Miami as an 5 star recruit by 247 Sports and ranked 26th by ESPN. As a sophomore, Brown averaged 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and four assists per game and shot 27 percent from 3-point range.
