Michelle Held has a soulful voice and presence that immediately captivates listeners. With her unconventional guitar playing, complemented by a poignant and thought-provoking lyrical world, she is establishing herself as a force in the next generation of poets and singer-songwriters, from the streets to the concert stages. “Held plays gentle folk with oft scathing lyrics. It’s her voice that adds the X-Factor; that little bit of welcome strange,” writes Brett Callwood (Detroit Metro Times). Performing regularly throughout Southeast Michigan since 2013 and welcomed on national stages, such as Kansas City Folk Festival, Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe & Wheatland Music Festival, she was acknowledged as an emerging songwriter in 2018 & 2019 by the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Michelle has been building a repertoire of original work since the onset of her musical journey in 2011 and is preparing to record her debut album so, stay tuned.
