Sean Benjamin emerged as a performer around the campus bars of Ohio State University in the 00s, with a truly unique sound, catchy songwriting and smooth distinct vocals. His influence was blended from the songwriters he looked up to, like Peter Gabriel, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, Damien Rice and G. Love and Special Sauce, and his experience co-producing R&B and Hip Hop instrumentals, styled after R. Kelly and Ginuwine.
It was not long before the Cleveland native had earned a reputation for being unlike any other guy holding an acoustic guitar. Benjamin put out 7 self-released albums and over 100 songs, in the span of 5 years, before he was signed by an independent label in 2008.
The Ohio-born singer has toured across 2 continents picking up fans from New York to Los Angeles, London to Edinburgh, Tallahassee to Las Vegas and the college towns of the Midwest. His mischievous stage presence and crooner persona brings an element of unpredictability to set lists and style.
In 2011, after being discovered on The Opie and Anthony Show (in ’09) on Sirius XM radio, Benjamin paired with producer Dru Boogie to release a one-of-a-kind album entitled I Exist. The 24-track collaboration features pop/rock/r&b in the format of an epic concept album where the songs flow from one to the next and featured the singles “Hypnotized”, “Chain Reaction”, “Should I?”, “Sky Dive” and “Love Me Like a Drug”
The following release, Live Live Live, was a 20-song live anthology, chronicling solo acoustic performances over 5 years, from 2008-2013.
In 2015, Benjamin returned to the road for a U.S. tour, taking him through New York, Chicago and for the first time to Los Angeles and Nashville.
Sean made his return to Europe in 2017 with a tour including dates in London, England, Edinburgh, Scotland and Dublin, Ireland.
In 2018, the single “Elaborate” was debuted by Cleveland.com and featured in blogs, playlists and radio stations in the U.S. and Europe.
Currently, Benjamin is working on his next studio record, to be released this year.
