My two favorite roles: wife and mom to our two daughters. I spend every second I can with my husband, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Kyle says it’s because I hate being alone, which might be true, but I think it’s because I love being with him. My favorite things in the world are hearing my daughter say “ma ma” as she comes running for a hug, and watching my littlest one light up when she sees me. I’m one of those people who thinks you can never have enough friends. I’m overly trusting and overly loyal, and have this ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Hello brick wall, can we be friends? Invite me out for nachos, bring me a Starbucks refresher, or let me snuggle your cute puppy, and I promise we’ll be best friends. I’m a home-body at heart, but am rarely there. Exploring makes my heart happy. And oh, I cry. A lot. All happy tears, of course. Father-daughter dances are THE WORST! I’ve perfected the skill of taking pictures through the tears. And let me tell you, it is a skill! Fun Fact: I’m proudly left handed, and may or may not have tried (and successfully) brainwashed our daughter into being one too by putting all her toys on her left hand side from the moment she was born, and fully plan on doing the same with our second daughter too!
I am 30 years old, wife to a wonderful man named Shane, and mom to two little boys! Our oldest is full of energy, loves to figure out how things work, likes to carry random objects around the house and turned 2 in January! We have a brand new baby boy born right before Thanksgiving, who also lights up our world. They are by far the best thing we have ever done in our lives! And we can’t forget our 4-legged daughter, Emma. She is the best big sister and is incredibly patient with her brothers! We can’t wait to watch them grow into the best of friends. We live up in Wake Forest and love that we are close enough to Raleigh to access it, but not quite part of the city life. During our free time we love to go on family adventures outside. Before becoming a part of A.J. Dunlap Photography, I was a teacher for 7 years. While I miss my students, my sons is by far my most important teaching job yet! I can’t wait to get to know and photograph your sweet family! Fun Fact: Growing up I absolutely hated peanut butter! It wasn’t until I was pregnant with Cason that I learned how to tolerate it and now I even enjoy a good PB&J on occasion!
One of my favorite things to do is to sit and watch a glowy sunset. It’s refreshing for me! I’m a mix of a type-A personality and a creative. This just means that I live my life by lists while my mind also reels with new ideas constantly. I’m a night owl, and I think my best ideas come late at night! My love of photography goes back to when my dad taught me the basics of his camera when I was young. Now, I have a degree in commercial photography from Appalachian State University, a school nestled in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Though I spent many memorable summer trips with my family at the beach, the mountains will always have a special place in my heart. One of the things I fervently pursue in my life is intentionality. The relationships I have with my loved ones are so, so special to me. I also love meeting new people and hearing their stories. Quality time is my love language, so spending time with people is something that I cherish! Handwritten letters and fresh flowers do my heart good. A few other things you should know about me are that I spend a lot of time at baseball games, I’m a (crazy) Christmas fanatic, and I’m a loyal fan of Chick-fil-A!
The most important thing you need to know about me is I love my family. I can be anywhere in the world, and as long as they’re with me I’m happy. They are my home. I’m an early bird. Slow mornings and coffee. That’s my kind of morning. I am on a never ending search to find the best coffee shop. It’s my first stop in every city I visit. My favorite one is in Charleston, SC. A.J. says that in another life I must have been a tour guide. I love researching and planning out our adventures, making sure we see every point of interest in our travels and know the history behind them. I also know everything there is to know and more about Clemson football. Being a wedding photographer makes it kind of difficult to watch college football, so I’ve been known to stay up late after weddings to watch the games! I’m doing everything I can to raise a Tiger fan, and I’m proud to say I’m succeeding! Fun Fact: I’m an only child, born and raised in Asheville, NC. The Blue Ridge mountains will always feel like home to me.
