Amy Reader is a painter, sculptor, fiber and installation artist currently living and working in Charlotte, NC. She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Richmond in May, 2015 where she also received the Capitol One Merit Award for Excellence in Studio Art. Her work draws inspiration from the organic shapes found in flowers and trees. Currently, Amy’s sculpture Entwine is on view at the Mighty Tieton Warehouse in Tieton, Washington as part of the annual 10x10x10xTieton juried exhibition. Her painting Celeste is on exhibit at the McDowell Center for the Arts in Matthews, North Carolina as part of the annual Mathews Artists Guild show. This painting won the Mayor’s Choice Award. Her largest work to date is the #100womenproject, a collaborative fiber art installation that engaged over 500 women in 25 countries on 6 out of 7 continents. This site specific installation was on view at The Temple of the Cosmic Mothership from May 1 – 9, 2015. When Amy is not working on her own art, she interns at Studio Cultivate; Amy also works at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art where she provides an engaging and educational experience to museum guests. In her free time, Amy runs half marathons and climbs rocks and trees (usually with proper safety gear). She also enjoys spending time with her six year old goldfish, Edgar Allan Poe.
