Steph Dye!

Steph Dye!When she began playing cello at age four, Steph Dye knew she wanted to be a famous solo classical cellist when she grew up because she adored Yo-yo Ma and Jacqueline DuPre. At age 12, though, after eight years of classical training, she was introduced to Apocalyptica, a Finnish metal cello band, and began a slightly different journey. She developed a passion for rock and metal music, first starting with simple cello arrangements of Apocalyptica tracks and now writing intricate cello trio and quartet versions of the music of Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Three Days Grace, and Rage Against The Machine.Steph Dye!
Steph performed with Primus on their new album tour, “Primus and the Chocolate Factory,” at a sold-out show at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. Steph has also had the honor of performing with artists such as A. R. Rahman, Luis Enrique, Siedah Garrett, Bill Whelan, Rachel Barton Pine, and has been featured four times with the Mark Wood Experience. In 2013, she was selected to perform with Mark Wood at the MuzArt World Foundation concert “We Are Hope” for a crowd of 20,000. Various cello masters, including Lynn Harrell, Sara Sant’Ambrogio, and Zoe Keating, have all lauded her “passion” and “spirit.”
Steph Dye has served as Principal Cellist of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra and now performs with the Berklee World Strings and Berklee Musical Theater Orchestra. She often performs in the Berklee Performance Center, the college’s flagship performance space, which offers a wide variety of concerts. Currently, she is an eighth semester student and studies with Owen Young.
