Jane Clayson is an award winning journalist widely known for her work at CBS News, ABC News, and on the nationally syndicated NPR program, On Point. Over more than two decades, she has traveled the world covering international stories, presidential campaigns and interviewing the biggest newsmakers of the day. At CBS News, Jane was co-anchor, with Bryant Gumbel, of The Early Show and anchored coverage of major news events, including September 11th and its aftermath. She has interviewed U.S. Presidents, Vice-Presidents and world leaders as well as a host of stars from the lighter side of American life—from Hollywood to Broadway and from the Country Music Award to the Kennedy Center Honors.Jane reported for several CBS News broadcasts, including the investigative “Eye on America” segments of the CBS Evening News. She also occasionally anchored that broadcast and was a regular contributor to 48 Hours. Prior to joining CBS News as co-host of The Early Show, Jane was a correspondent at ABC News, where she reported for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and Good Morning America. Although she was based in Los Angeles, ABC News often sent Jane around the world. She covered the NATO airstrikes on Kosovo and the resulting refugee crisis in Macedonia and spent several weeks in Jakarta, covering the Indonesian riots and subsequent fall of the Suharto government. Jane began her broadcast news career as a reporter and anchor at KSL Television in Salt Lake City, where her work earned the coveted Edward R. Murrow award for the station. Jane has been honored with many more journalism awards, including an Emmy. In May, 2004, she was presented an honorary Doctorate degree from Utah State University. Jane is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where she started as an undergraduate student on a violin performance scholarship. Jane is the best-selling author of I Am a Mother. For her church, Jane has served in regional, stake and ward public affairs, as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, and in many Relief Society and Primary callings. Jane and her husband, Mark, live in Boston. They are parents of five children and grandparents of three.
