Brooke Dircks


Maryland soprano Brooke Dircks has received two career encouragement grants from the Wagner Society of New York in 2017 and 2018, who described her sound as “impressive and youthful”. Recently, Ms. Dircks was a featured soloist with Symphony-by-the Sea in Beverly, MA, performing arias and duets by Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, and Giordano. In 2018, she won the Robert Honeysucker Encouragement Award in the New England Regional finals of the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions and was a semi-finalist for the Elizabeth Connell Prize for aspiring dramatic sopranos. She has been a young artist with the Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Miami Music Festival, and the American Institute of Music in Graz, Austria, where she received 3rd place in the prestigious Meistersinger competition. Her operatic repertoire includes La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro; Freia in Das Rheingold; Lady Billows in Albert Herring; Miss Jessel in Turn of the Screw and Waltraute, a role she performed in a gala concert alongside Jane Eaglen and Greer Grimsley [Die Walküre Act III]. Ms. Dircks is a second year graduate student at the New England Conservatory where she studies with renowned soprano Jane Eaglen. She is the recipient of the Bertha C. and Edward Rose Scholarship as well as a Presidential Distinction scholarship.
