Working with children for over fifteen years, Brittany’s main goal has always been to first build and foster relationships with her students and help them better connect with themselves while working hard towards their goals. This is what ultimately led her to pursue kids yoga & mindfulness certification through Flow & Grow Kids Yoga in the Spring of 2020 as it is her own yoga and mindfulness practice that has helped her better understand and connect with herself. Brittany currently works as a remote teacher for and in collaboration with Flow & Grow Kids Yoga based out of Brooklyn, New York as well as a Kids Yoga & Mindfulness teacher at Synergy Wellness Center in Hudson, Massachusetts. Through her own practice and the guidance of her teacher/mentor Lara Hocheiser, Brittany has developed her own style of teaching which focuses on meeting her students where they are at in the moment physically, mentally, and emotionally. Brittany strives to help her students cultivate self awareness, body awareness, and lifelong self care habits through building connection, encouraging self reflection, and fostering love and compassion for selves and others. Brittany Stockwell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Framingham State University, where she studied English Literature, American History, and Music. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with a concentration in Secondary English from Simmons University in Boston and is licensed to teach in the state of Massachusetts. She received her Music Together teacher training certification at the Music Together Worldwide Headquarters in New Jersey from Lili M. Levinowitz, Ph.D., the Director of Curriculum for Music Together Worldwide and Professor of Music Education at Rowan. Brittany’s journey as a musician and artist began at the age of 4 when she first started taking violin lessons. She would continue to do so all through high school and also pursued piano and viola lessons as well. Brittany has been playing violin and viola in weddings, events, music videos, and in recording studios for over 20 years.
Brittany currently teaches private violin/viola lessons for the Shrewsbury Public Schools and early childhood Music Together classes for the Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester. Her methodology of teaching and working with children is guided through her personal and professional practices of mindfulness. She believes mindfulness is the cornerstone of building authentic and lasting relationships between teachers and students in a way that gives them the guidance and tools to be their very best in any future pursuits in life!
