The first song I ever learned was from my oldest brother on his guitar. He walked me through how to sing and play “On Top of Spaghetti” when I was around 10 years old. What can I say? With just three chords and the truth, I was hooked. I went on to participate in the Children’s Choir at my church while taking guitar and piano lessons after school. At 13, I began to study percussion and later joined the Contemporary Adult Music Group at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. At Glen Burnie High School I was selected for the Vocal Ensemble and later became a member of the Modern Music Masters Honor Society.
In 2001, while completing my Business Degree from the University of Baltimore, I began playing in small clubs and restaurants in the Baltimore area. I soon partnered with a latin percussionist and things really took off! Year after year, I performed more shows, rehearsed more songs and gained invaluable experience. As I learned the ropes, I focused on polishing my sound and adding new material. And today that journey continues…
Over the last 15 years, I’ve performed hundreds of shows at a variety of restaurants, bars, weddings, festivals and private events. In 2005 I recorded and released some original music (available on iTunes) and I continue to write and record on a regular basis. However, the majority of my shows include mostly cover material. I really enjoy taking requests from the crowd! I’ve always enjoyed different genres of music and I think that’s reflected in the songs I perform. The artists range from country to classic rock and modern rock. You can check out my Request List to get a better idea of the music that moves me.
Presently, amid my busy schedule, you can see me perform regularly on Friday and Saturday afternoons at The Horse You Came In On Saloon in Fells Point, MD. I’ve also been teaming up with Rod Sebastian in our group Rod & Real. As we like to say, Rod and I meet at the crossroads of roots rock and modern country! And finally, I enjoy rocking-out in my acoustic duo called The Solution (featuring percussionist Mike Needer).
