“High Wire” is the debut album from the stunning new jazz singer Donna Deussen. Backed by a killer band made up of some of Los Angeles’ finest musicians, Donna’s luminous voice and fresh arrangements of accessible standards will be sure to capture a wide audience. A magna cum laude graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Donna began performing and recording with various pop, rock, country, and folk bands when she first moved to Los Angeles in 1989, before committing herself to the “art of jazz.” “High Wire” is her long-awaited debut CD and features 12 exciting arrangements of jazz and pop standards, including a latin version of “Old Devil Moon;” a ‘Weather Report-inspired’ “Nature Boy;” a luscious jazzy version of Joni Mitchell’s “River;” and the title track, an uptempo samba take on the Chick Corea classic. It showcases some of LA’s best musicians: Mark Massey on keyboards, Aldo Bentivegna on drums, Anders Swanson on bass, and Eric Marienthal (of Chick Corea’s Elektric Band) on sax. The CD is getting airplay on many jazz radio stations, including: KKJZ Long Beach, KCLU Thousand Oaks, KBEM Minneapolis, WAER Syracuse, WICN Worchester MA, CFRC Radio Ontario Canada, WTJU Charlottesville VA, WPKN Bridgeport CT, Radio LaGuagua, Argentina, and Radio Universitaria do Minho, Portugal! “High Wire” is available online at www.cdbaby.com/deussen. Donna performs regularly throughout the southwestern U.S., especially in the Southern California and greater Phoenix, AZ, areas.
