The creative process allows me to play with relationships… visual, emotional, intellectual, societal. I’m ever curious… always playing, exploring, and stretching my methods, to better express the voice calling through the work. I am inspired by many, many things… the natural world with its curious creatures and marvelous moments, the human experience as we relate to our outer and inner world and to each other, the fascinations of history and the potential of science and exploration, the beauty found in our languages… spoken, written, visual, musical, moving. I strive to connect the dots, to inspire others to see the invisible, feel the ethereal or experience the ‘real’ world in a new way.
My most recent series “Wilding” has evolved from a question… “I wonder why…” and discusses the intersections of human and wilderness. Living in a place that is deeply connected to both worlds I’ve watched the way that we as humans crave true connection to something truly Wild, how someone visiting may be surrounded by luxury but be most deeply affected by seeing an osprey’s nest or a bear and her cubs. The series explores the ways that our human interactions affect and change that environment, as it affects and changes us in turn if we allow it. “Wilding” is about the conversation between two worlds… and is a growing collection of multi-layered images of wilderness created using distinctly urban materials and techniques.
Sara is a full time, lifelong artist, gratefully living and working in beautiful Lake Tahoe, California. Her art is inspired by playful appreciation for both the simplicity and complexity of life, of the world within and the world without, driven by a constant curiosity and fascination with the uniquely individual experiences of the lives we live. She strives to give form to ethereal moments in time and a voice to the magic interwoven throughout the natural world… to bring an experience to the viewer that connects them to something inside themselves, and to the threads that connect us all.
