Charleston photographs, and Lowcountry photographs, are a true love for Ken. For the past 20 years he has taken extensive iconic photographs of the North and South Carolina coastal and upcountry regions. While his early focus was mainly on sports photography he now concentrates on outdoor photography, nature, and wildlife photography. He makes his home in the Carolina Lowcountry and finds the region to be particularly rich in landscape and wildlife photograph opportunities. His photography conveys the beauty and his love of the Lowcountry.
In the early 1990’s his interest in windsurfing and photography assignments from Windsurfing Magazine took him to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While on assignment he photographed the surrounding beaches and lighthouses. Consequently his art work is displayed for sale in numerous National Park Service visitor centers on the Outer Banks. His photography experiences on the Outer Banks ultimately lead to his shift in focus from sports to outdoor and wildlife photographs.
Due to photography Ken sees the world through the interaction of light and color with the surrounding landscape. It’s through his eye that he captures the vivid colors of Charleston photographs and the Lowcountry with his pictures and presents his images to the public for their enjoyment.
His work has been published in Windsurfing Magazine, New England Windsurfing Journal, South Carolina Magazine, Sandlapper Magazine, and Sports Illustrated for Kids. In 1996 he covered the sailing Olympics in Savannah, GA for Windsurfing Magazine.
