Casey Mink

Casey Mink’s long-term curiosity for and dedication to the violin has led to experiences ranging from performing at Carnegie Hall; receiving an undergraduate research to study at the International Academy of Music, St. Petersburg, Russia; being twice selected to be a violin fellow at the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland; and establishing a child-centered Suzuki violin studio in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
At the University of North Florida, Casey earned a Bachelor’s of Music degree and was concertmaster of the orchestra for three years. He also won the Outstanding Junior Musician of the Year and Outstanding Senior Music Scholar award. As first violinist of the UNF scholarship string quartet, Casey performed in a master class for the Tokyo String Quartet. Casey earned a Master of Music in Performance from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Prior to holding his Arts Administration intern position with the Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship from 2010-11, he served as graduate orchestra assistant at Bowling Green State University. Casey also has a passion for cross-cultural engagement and music education. After his participation in the 2006 International Academy of Music-St. Petersburg, he gave two lecture recitals to his local community based on research and experiences in Russia. In May 2010, he helped organize a series of solo and chamber music performances in Beijing and Fujian, China. In 2011, he gave the South Carolina premier of Philip Glass’s Sonata for Violin and Piano as part of a collaborative recital with painter Dominique Verechia.
Casey feels called to skillfully pass on the love of music to the next
generation and thinks there are few things in life more meaningful than seeing a 4-year-old perform on a miniature violin. He taught for the Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia as well as Virginia Tech before starting his own violin studio located at the Westminster Academy of the Arts in Rock Hill, SC. Casey performs with the Roanoke Symphony in Roanoke, Virginia, and the South Carolina Philharmonic in Columbia, SC. He is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas through Unit 6, training with Nancy Lokken, Ed Sprunger, Ed Kreitman, Paule Barsalou, and Nancy Jackson. Besides playing in orchestras and working with kids, Casey loves fly-fishing, playing tennis and reading anything by C.S. Lewis.
