Greg Williams

Guitarist, composer and educator Greg Williams began playing guitar at age 13 after being inspired by rock groups Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. Greg has held a simultaneous interest in rock guitar and classical guitar ever since. Greg holds a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance and a Master of Music in composition from Sacramento State College, and has studied classical guitar with Richard Savino, Dusan Bogdonovic, Marc Teicholz and Brandon Yip. Greg has performed in master classes with William Kannengeiser, Andrew York, David Tanenbaum, Benjamin Verderey, Nigel North, and Paul Bier. Notable performances include the Festival of New American Music in Sacramento, the International Live Looping festival in Santa Cruz, and the Fringe Arts festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Greg performs regularly throughout Northern California, and has performed in Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Greg’s original music has been broadcast on NPR, Capital Public Radio, KOVR television, and Greg co-wrote and produced the broadcast music for the Sacramento Kings basketball team. Greg is currently an adjunct faculty member at Sacramento State College, and maintains an active private teaching studio. Greg has received three Sacramento Music Awards (SAMMIES), and is a founding member and vice president of the Sacramento Guitar Society. In his spare time, Greg enjoys bicycling, camping, and listening to music.
