Greg Stone
Greg Stone has taught and performed bluegrass music in the Portland area for 20 years. It was a Doc Watson album that got him hooked to the genre. There are so many great guitar players who have influenced him. Greg also likes to listen to the great harmonies like The Louvin Brothers, Hazel and Alice and so many others. Check it out. Come to a show. You’ll be hooked too. Greg also performs with The GTM String Band, teaches guitar and mandolin and is the founder of Taborgrass.
Linda Leavitt
Linda Leavitt is a vocalist who also plays guitar and mandolin. Her earliest memory is singing four-part southern gospel music in church. Her daddy really did sing bass! Linda’s deep love for classic bluegrass, country, honky-tonk and swing guides her to songs that stay in your heart. She is the vocal instructor at Taborgrass and teaches bluegrass singing and vocal harmony workshops privately and at festivals. Linda also performs with Big Dickens and the John Montgomery Band.
Dee Johnson
Dee Johnson’s love of acoustic music was the result of many trips to Weiser and participation in contest fiddle playing. When Dee discovered bluegrass music, she bought herself a bass, and has never looked back. She has played with groups in both the Seattle and Portland areas, and performs with Big Dickens and Whiskey Deaf.
Mike Stahlman
Mike Stahlman started playing the banjo “when Lyndon Johnson was the President.” Mike played with Sonny Hammond in the band Sunny South, and he was the banjo player for The Sawtooth Mountain Boys and Lee Highway. In addition to playing with Mountain Honey, Mike plays with Sunny South and teaches banjo at Portland Community College, at music camps and at workshops. He also teaches people to fly airplanes!
