Edward Hartline’s blues-inspired folk songs seem to come from the heart and voice of an older man, as he weaves emotional pictures of life, love, and loss that touch the soul. Edward began writing songs at age 11. When he was 13, a song cover he posted to YouTube was noticed by the original artist, who Tweeted the link to his fans. With that encouragement, Edward began performing in local coffee shops, and within six months he recorded and released his first EP, Lagniappe. At 14, he performed weekly at Starbucks, and at 15, he toured solo throughout the southeastern U.S. in support of his debut CD, Candy for Bread Map. He was included on Independent Music News’ Folk Artists 2012 compilation album. He released 2 more EPs in 2013, and his second CD, Human Nature, in 2014. A digital release, Estrangement (2016) is available on Bandcamp. He is an alumnus of Sofar Sounds Austin and Dallas/Ft
Worth. He won the 2014 Singer-Songwriter competition hosted by Workplay Theater in Birmingham, AL, Blast on the Bay 2015 Emerging Talent Showcase in Port Saint Joe, FL, and Moonlight on the Mountain’s Winter 2016 Open Mic Showcase, Birmingham, AL Edward has performed with many fine artists, including Hope Cassity, Bobby Long, Jess Meuse, Marcus Foster, Shannon LaBrie, Sam Bradley, and Von Grey. His influences include Don McLean, The Monkees, Elliott Smith, My Chemical Romance, Ludo, and Janis Ian. His sound has been compared to James Taylor, Damien Rice, and Ray LaMontagne.
