Taylor Poenicke

Taylor Poenicke is a senior flute performance major at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville where she studies with Dr. Shelly Monier. In 2016, she won the SIUe concerto competition with the CPE Bach in D minor Flute Concerto. Taylor was also a finlalist for the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra concerto competition in 2017 with the Liebermann Piccolo Concerto. She has performed in a masterclass for Carol Wincenc, Nicole Esposito, Julien Beaudiment, Alberto Almarza, Göran Marcusson, Marianne Gedigian, Jill Felber, Demarre McGill, Jonathon Keeble, John Thorne, Paul Thompson, and Jennifer Nitchman among many others. She has also attended many summer camps including the Iowa Flute Intensive, the Wildacres Flute Retreat, The Consummate Flutist, and the Aria Summer Academy. Taylor is currently holds the principal position for both the SIUe Orchestra and Wind Symphony. She is also a sub for the St. Louis Wind Symphony and a clinician for the annual Missouri All-State clinics. Taylor is currently the vice president of the flute club at SIUe. She just finished up her third and final year with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra where she played flute and piccolo.
