John Cang

John Cang is a nature photographer and instructor based in San Jose, CA. Prior to embarking on a photography career in 1995 he was a mechanical engineer and manager for 19 years, and was awarded a US patent for a design that improves the performance of gas turbine engines. For over 20 years Cang has enjoyed photographing wildlife, landscape, and other nature subjects throughout North America. While under amateur photographer status his photography caught the attention of notable nature photographer John Shaw, who included three of Cang’s photographs in his book American Vision: Images By The Best Of Today’s Amateur Photographers.
Cang’s recent publication credits include National Geographic Society, Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, Bridgestone Books, Western Birds, Outdoor California, Response, Destinations, Hawk Mountain, and other publications. His corporate clients include Cargill, Marlin, Stoel Rives, and Barrett Advertising.
Since 1998 John Cang has been conducting photography workshops and slide presentations, and was a featured speaker at the New England Camera Club Council’s 2001 Photography Conference – the largest gathering of photographers in the nation, with over 1,300 people in attendance.
