A band’s name should say something about that band. When Soul Patch Philly took its name, it poked a little fun at leader Nate Kahn’s sprout of beard. It also was a tongue-in-cheek tribute to all of the great dance music that has come out of the band’s native Philadelphia. The beard has since disappeared, but the soulful sounds of this terrific band grow ever deeper and funkier. From the great Philly International recordings of the 70s to the hits of today they’ve inspired, Soul Patch Philly covers everything danceable from every era and genre of modern popular music. The authentic sounds of R&B, Modern Pop and Top 40, Funk, Rock, Latin, Jazz, Swing and Country are reproduced – fresh and faithful – and all selections are dictated by your taste.
Our extensive repertoire lets you customize the play list. We are always learning songs, so don’t be afraid to ask for something brand-new you’ve heard, or something with sentimental significance for you and your guests. Soul Patch Philly has been in existence since late 1997. We’ve played over 1000 weddings and private events – everything from movie wrap parties to holiday celebrations, from Bar and Bat Mitzvahs to corporate mixers and non-profit fundraisers. Over the years, members of the band have played with such artists as Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, Tower of Power, Patti LaBelle, Herbie Hancock, and many more. Percolating grooves start in the world-class rhythm section.
Our horn players punctuate the mix with pop and fire, and soar atop the infectious grooves. Our singers are not only the best collection of pop vocalists in the Philadelphia area, they are also consummate entertainers and will get your guests involved in the fun. We are very comfortable in any setting, and we are proactive with you, your caterer, your venue and all the other vendors. We always make sure to have a timeline in place that represents your tastes as well as the dictates and needs of all of your vendors. Simply put, we play well with others.
