Lee White
Lee White is a native Houstonian that has a strong passion for food. Lee has been in the food industry for the last 15 years, where he started as a bus boy at a family restaurant in Houston called VeraCruz Seafood and Steaks. Lee has held almost every position that a restaurant would entail. Lee moved on to start his own career in the food industry; his true passion. Lee worked in several different establishments such as Pappasito’s Cantina and Carino’s Italian Grill where Lee waited tables and bartended. Lee even managed and bartended at an Ice House in Harligen, Texas.
As Lee lived in Brownsville for several years he found a great love for the Hispanic culture as well as the food. In 2007 Lee’s passion for food was escalated to a different level. Cooking family recipes that were given to him by his mother, Lee started cooking for family events and parties in Brownsville. Lee was hired with HEB in 2007 as a Cooking Connection partner. He then started building his knowledge in recipe building, knife skills and cooking techniques. Not long after, a great opportunity within the HEB company became available in Houston.
Lee transferred back and worked his way up to becoming a Media Chef for HEB. Lee would be featured in 2009 on KPRC Local 2 in a week’s segment for Superbowl recipes such as tailgate food featuring HEB products. Lee was then selected in 2010 to host a segment in Tailgate Grub for the Houston Texans Playoffs where he introduced his favorite, familiar recipes that he cooked for his family and friends. Lee was also featured throughout the year on other television network stations giving recipes for Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Valentines Day, etc.
Lee spent the next year learning more about food, seasonings, cooking techniques and how to cook food from different ethnic backgrounds such as authentic Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean, Southern, Cajun, BBQ, etc. As Lee’s knowledge expanded so did his passion for seafood. Lee became a Seafood manager and shortly after was asked to be the FIRST seafood media chef for HEB. In late 2011, Lee became the face of the“Cooking Time with HEB” segment. Lee cooked recipes that incorporated different seafood ingredients. The show was live every Thursday during the Mid-Day show on KPRC Local 2.
After 7 years Lee was able to start his own catering business called D-Leecious Bites. He offers private chef events for birthdays, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, graduations, or anyone that loves to entertain. Lee specializes in fresh, farm to table cooking in your home where he demonstrates LIVE cooking and plating of the recipes selected. In addition, Lee is highly savvy in wine and beer dinners, cooking classes, meal planning and preparing meals for delivery. Lee is a self taught chef that is well known in the local communities around Houston. He looks forward to catering your next event!
