Gillian Underwood and the Lonesome Doves

Gillian studied classical piano as a child and was heavily influenced to start writing and playing folk music by her dad, who played classical and folk guitar and encouraged her to play the guitar. Her mom helped her break into performing in front of audiences by encouraging her to play and sing in talent shows from the age of six. She studied vocal jazz in high school and college and regularly performed in broadway-themed shows and musicals in Sacramento. It wasn’t until her early 20s that she started performing the songs she wrote live at venues in Sacramento and in the Bay Area. She went on to sing in several bands including Rhyme nor Reason, Starboard Bough, The Favors and The Handome Gamblers before starting her latest project, Gillian Underwood and the Lonesome Doves.
