Corpus Christi Dance Collective
Our award winning company is made up of a group of dedicated dancers wanting to dance at a competitive level. We have two separate companies: one for dancers interested in focusing solely on hip hop and one for dancers interested in more “technical” dance forms (contemporary and jazz). Dancers can and are encouraged to participate in both. These dancers participate in performances, competitions, dance conventions, and are given opportunities to dance professionally.
Several of our dancers have gotten their introduction to professional dance through paid music video or live performance opportunities through our network of talented local artists. Hip hop company dancers are required to take 2 hip hop or jazz funk classes a week and attend rehearsals. Dancers wanting to compete in contemporary or jazz are required to take one jazz, one contemporary, one turns & leaps, and two ballet classes a week and attend rehearsals. Dancers are encouraged to take more if and when able. Dancers have the option of taking additional ballet classes elsewhere.
Auditions for our company will be held August 4, 2018. If you would like to be considered for CCDC Company or Hip Hop Company, please message or call and we can discuss options. In Spring of 2017, with only two and a half weeks of rehearsal and including all dancers who wished to join us in competing, our company received the following awards at Celebration Regionals: 1st place teen small group (Contemporary), 1st place teen large group (Hip Hop), Showstopper Award (Hip Hop), Choreography Award (Contemporary and Hip Hop). Since then, we have only continued to excel at both competitions and conventions.
Our company dancers have also been featured in music videos and commercials including Grammy nominated El Dusty’s “La Cumbia.” We are excited to continue building our reputation as a studio fostering a healthy competitive drive in our dancers. Corpus Christi Dance Collective is a community based dance project that seeks to put choreographers, teachers, students, and parents in control of shaping their dance education collaboratively. CCDC is committed to building healthy, strong, confident, and happy dancers who develop a fundamental and complete understanding of movement. We encourage our dancers to become co-creators and develop as full artists, not purely technicians. Additionally, we are active in building and fostering a larger healthy dance and art community in the Coastal Bend.
