The San Diego String Quartet initially formed in 2008 amongst a group of professional musicians who enjoyed the interaction and unique dynamic of string quartet music. Beyond the common bond of our love for music, we are a uniquely talented group of individuals with decades of musical experience. We enjoy a wide range of musical styles and are always eager for a new musical challenge.
Heidi Thomas
Heidi Thomas is an accomplished violinist with a B.M. in Violin Performance from Biola University. A native of San Diego, she maintains a busy schedule between rehearsing and performing with the La Jolla Symphony, and providing live music for events and weddings across the county. Heidi especially enjoys chamber music and likes the challenge of keeping the San Diego String Quartet’s music binders organized.
Robert Rotzler
Robert Rotzler has been playing, recording, and teaching the violin, viola and mandolin in the Southern California area for 40 years. His many credits include the San Diego Youth Symphony (Associate Concertmaster), Chapman College Chamber and Symphony Orchestras (Concertmaster), Orange County Community Orchestra (Co-Concertmaster) and San Diego State Symphony. He is currently the violinist and mandolinist of the nationally award-winning world beat fusion group, the Middle Earth Ensemble. Robert also manages a busy teaching schedule at his studio in New Expressions School of Music and enjoys passing on his passion for music to students of all ages.
Adriana Valdez
Adriana Valdez has played in many orchestras and ensembles over the past two decades of her cello playing tenure. Adriana is an active member of the Grossmont Symphony and performs regularly with the symphony and other music groups in the San Diego area. By day, Adriana is a devoted grade school teacher and she also enjoys teaching music when her busy schedule allows.
Shannon Yandall
Shannon Yandall is a talented violinist and violist and is a wonderful addition to the San Diego String Quartet. Shannon is a member of the Grossmont Symphony and numerous other music groups, including a mariachi band! Undaunted by music of any genre, Shannon is also a talented music teacher in the school district and has many students in her private music studio.
