Karen Donnellan
Karen Donnellan (b. Ireland) is currently Assistant Professor of Glass and Director of the National Casting Center Glass Facility at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New York. Donnellan is a multidisciplinary visual artist with training in glass. Her work encompasses sculpture, installation, sound, video, drawing and performance. Donnellan is the recipient of numerous residencies, most notably Toledo Museum of Art; Edinburgh College of Art; the Creative Glass Center of America, and Pilchuck Glass School. Her work is held in public and private collections and has been shown at venues internationally, including the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art, Tushanwan Museum, and the Musuem of American Glass. Donnellan’s work will be included in New Glass Now, a global survey of contemporary glass at the Corning Museum of Glass, NY in May 2019. She recently embarked on a collaboration with artists Xu Bing and Andrew Deutsch for a participatory project titled Landscape Residue. Donnellan earned a Bachelors of Design in Glass from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, and an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY.
