Joe Barksdale
After seeing Jimi Hendrix and his Monterey Pop performance pretty early in his development as a musician, “I’ve wanted to play live like that,” says Joe Barksdale “My goal is to be the premiere guitar player of my generation before it’s all said and done.”
He takes a step toward that lofty goal with the arrival of his new project Electric Soul. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan he is no stranger to soulful rhythms and melodies that “Motown” has become known for. Couple that with his wide range of influences that span across many genres, Marvin Gaye, The Allman Brothers Band, Alabama Shakes, Kid Cudi Nirvana, Drake and Gucci Mane (just to name a few) you have music that you’ve never heard before but have always wanted to hear. Thanks to his wide range of musical tastes he is able to consistently create music that can only be described as “evergreen” and “genre bending”.
He pours his heart out into his lyrics while using his four octave vocal range and emotionally expressive guitar playing to create something unique and entertaining while also being introspective and thought provoking.
