Cap City Band
Cap City Band is an Austin based dance band with a high energy show perfect for weddings and corporate events all over!
Cap City Band offers a high energy show to cater to a modern audience with a fantastic balance of your favorite dance songs from Motown, soul, 80s, 90s, 00s, country and today’s top 40! You’ll appreciate our versatility when working together to curate a setlist for your event and will love the non-stop medleys that keep the dance party going all night long. Seamless transitions and slick, choreographed medleys really set this band apart! Well versed in both the wedding and corporate event repertoire and flow, Cap City Band has the event experience to know how to get a great dance party going in any setting. This variety band stays current, rehearsed and professional without using any backing tracks!
Cap City Band boasts a “Certified Original Lineup”‚ meaning we perform with the same members at each and every event. This sounds like it would be the norm (and it should be) but there are some bands that contract events then piece together personnel from a pool of musicians‚ …some of whom are more qualified than others and in some cases may be their first time playing in that band. I mention this not to tarnish the reputation of any musician or band but rather to inform you on what questions you may want to ask as you’re shopping around for entertainment.
Casey Dion
(lead vocalist)
Casey Dion’s earliest memories of singing were as a young boy ad libbing along to his parents’ eclectic style of music – jazz, blues, gospel, classic rock, funk and soul. Eager to showcase and refine his natural abilities, Casey participated in many school functions and talent shows which naturally led him into becoming a contestant on American Idol, Star Search, and NBC’s The Voice.
His charisma, talent and personality are larger than life and he’s really come into his own as a lead vocalist in Cap City Band!
Alyssa Simmons
(lead vocalist)
Alyssa Simmons relocated to Austin, TX in 2015 from Detroit, MI to further her career in music… a creative journey in a much warmer climate! By the time she was a teenager Alyssa had already performed at the Apollo Theatre opening up for larger marquee acts including Randy Travis and the Smothers Brothers. She cut her teeth in the wedding and event industry and has jumped right into the Austin event market performing with top Austin event band Uptown Drive.
Alyssa is also an original artist with four albums to her credit and nominations for two Detroit Music Awards.
Deuce Bennett
(vocals/guitar)
For as long as he can remember, Deuce has been singing and performing. He began his piano training at the age of 4, guitar at 9 and by the time he was a teenager he was playing at local clubs in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Berklee College of Music Magna Cum Laude then moved to Austin, TX to continue a career in music. This musical journey has taken him all over the world from SXSW showcases in Austin to festivals in Helsinki, Finland. Besides music, Deuce is driven to further his rigorous yoga practice and enjoys his role as the head teacher at New School of Music which provides outreach music classes to low income students.
Brian Donohoe
(keyboards/sax)
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, keyboardist and saxophonist Brian Donohoe has worked with numerous Grammy-winning artists and indie music luminaries including Snarky Puppy, Okkervil River, and his own critically-acclaimed jazz/funk group, Progger. Brian performs, composes, and produces for artists in New York, Texas, California, and Europe, and his compositions appear on national television networks and modern jazz radio stations around the globe.
Brady Muckelroy
(bass)
Brady is one of the newest members of Cap City Band but has been working professionally in the Austin music scene for 20+ years. In addition to his reputation as a first-call bassist (and drummer) he’s also an entrepreneur as founder / head luthier at Muckelroy Basses – a highly endorsed boutique high-end bass guitar brand.
Christian Levens
(drums)
Christian Levens recently finished attending The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance. Though drum set is his primary instrument, he is fluent in all areas of percussion including orchestral drumming and marching band. At UTA, Levens performed with the drum line, numerous small jazz combos (including the Burkholder Combo, the premier small group at the University), as well as the top big band, the Jazz Orchestra. This past summer, Levens participated in a 4 month jazz residency at the House of Blues in Shanghai, China then a full semester abroad at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
