Marlene Dietrich was born in 1999 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only daughter of music aficionados. She learned to play guitar from her father and inherited her love of singing from her mother and maternal grandmother. Named for the famous 1930s stage and screen actress of the same name, Marlene [pronounced mar-leh-na] was raised listening to all music genres and plays various artists; her current influences include Bon Iver, Panic! at the Disco, and John Mayer. Her first performance Thanksgiving 2015 at age 16 was covering Neil Young’s “Alabama” to an appreciative full house at the Grog Shop in trendy Cleveland Heights. She has since performed with her band, The Artyficial Hypsters (with local legends Mike “Chopper” Wasson and Rodney Reisman) at various nightclubs. “Neptune” is the first release from her debut EP, Gratitude.
